Learn surfing on Costa Rica's pristine beaches, visit a local family to make tortillas and spot nature. Nothing brings learning to life like real-world experience.
Start the tour in San José with a fee time and activities on your choice. We recommend you to visit the ruins of the town of Ujarras, the city museums – the Gold Museum or the Insect Museum, where you can see great diversity of exotic bugs, for instance. Attend the market to buy some excellent souvenirs as well. Hit the road to La Fortuna and spend two days there. Visit to the Arenal volcano and swim in the hot springs, and experience an authentic cultural exchange with a local family at Doña Mara's home. Doña Mara will welcome the group with a tropical drink at her rancho (gazebo) where she will prepare a delicious lunch on her rustic wood-fired stove. The children will certainly enjoy opportunity of making tortillas. Then have fun in an included combo of kayaking and stand-up paddle-board session on the Lake Arenal, and take an option of white-water rafting or horseback ride to the local waterfall. Then have a guided nature hike in the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve in Monteverde, which is the home for over 2,000 species of plants, 320 bird species, and 100 different species of mammals, which inhabit this small area. Take a chance and experience the charge of adrenaline when flying above the trees on a canopy zipline tour, take a horse-back ride or visit the butterfly garden on your choice. After that have a nature hike in the Manuel Antonio National Park and leisure on the beach. Look for monkeys, armadillos, coatimundis, sloths and exotic birds that are present in the park. In the final part of the tour get back to San José and spend one more night there.
