Travel in spectacular fashion from Switzerland across the border to Italy on the highest railway in the Alps. The Bernina Express, which was classed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2008, runs through the ancient landscape of Switzerland’s beautiful region of Graubünden. Making short work of the 55 tunnels, 196 bridges, viaducts and steep inclines the Bernina Express is not to be missed.
Arrive to Switzerland and have an individual travel to the Alpine metropolis of St. Moritz with hotels, spas and upscale shops can be found. Board the Bernina Express and enjoy one of the most impressive scenic rail journeys Switzerland has to offer on the next morning. Climbing over the spectacular Bernina pass to more than 2253 m towards Poschiavo and Brusio and finally reach Tirano in Italy, which is the end of the Bernina line – over 4 hours (156 km). Change to the Bernina Express Bus, which will take you onwards to Lugano – 3 hours (90 km). The speed of both drives is slow enough to make pictures and enjoy the beauty of nature. Enjoy evening in Lugano and have an individual return journey to the airport on the third day.
