Everest (8848m), named by the locals the „ Mother of the World" - Sagarmatha, is the highest mountain in the world, however, this title has been doubted time after time since the mountain changes. The Mount was named after Sir George Everest, who became an indirect discoverer of it as he was largely responsible for completing the section of the Great Trigonometric Survey of India in 1865. The first people to reach the peak of Everest in 1953 were Norwegian, Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa, Tenzing Norgay.
